MY THOUGHTS:

I received this ARC in exchange for my honest review.

This is not my first Lauren DeStefano book that I’ve read and reviewed over the years.

I am the biggest fan of Lauren’s and her writing of middle-grade, children’s books.  This particular book is as good as it gets! Lauren came through once again.

If you love books about superheroes and great adventures tied together in a well plotted book, full of twists and turns to keep you interested and beautifully well-honed characters fully fleshed out and no where near perfect, then this book is for you.

The premise has a great hook, the setting is a school for gifted and strange children who can do amazing things. There’s monsters and quests, adventures filled with exciting details and questionable challenges. The characters all deserve their own book so we can see what their stories are about and the MC of this book is fully developed, grows and succeeds with her goals with the help of the secondary characters driving her forward and successfully toward a great conclusion and resolution of plot.

A school with secrets, ones needing discovery.  <sigh> Sound like another school we all know and love? That’s about as far as it gets to being like Hogwarts although I can’t deny other similarities.

I loved this book and will look forward to Lauren’s next onnnnnnnnne!

I give this book:

5-star
