Boots Elsworth was a famous treasure hunter in another life, but now she’s washed up. She makes her meager living faking salvage legends and selling them to the highest bidder, but this time she might have stumbled on something real–the story of the Harrow, a famous warship, capable of untold destruction.
Nilah Brio is the top driver in the Pan Galactic Racing Federation and the darling of the racing world–until she witnesses the murder of a fellow racer. Framed for the murder and on the hunt to clear her name, Nilah only has one lead: the killer also hunts a woman named Boots.
On the wrong side of the law, the two women board a smuggler’s ship that will take them on a quest for fame, for riches, and for justice.
The greatest dangers hide the brightest treasures in this bold, planet-hopping science fiction adventure series.
The crew of the legendary Capricious are rich enough to retire in comfort for the rest of their days, but none of it matters if the galaxy is still in danger.
Nilah and Boots, the ship’s newest crew-members hear the word of a mysterious cult that may have links back to an ancient and all-powerful magic. To find it, hot-headed Nilah will have to go undercover and find the source of their power without revealing her true identity. Meanwhile, Boots is forced to confront the one person she’d hoped never to see again: her old, turn-coat treasure-hunting partner.

MY THOUGHTS:
I received these books in exchange for my honest review.
Holy crap on a cracker!
Alex White is my latest wow author in the science fiction genre.
I was a bit intimidated on the size of each book, but in all honesty, after having read them both, I wish they were bigger just so that I could stay in Boot’s world a bit longer. I was so shocked by just how much I loved this new series by White.
He successfully took rather ordinary characters and developed them into life, living and breathing, hurting and dying. He took me into worlds ravaged by war, victim of genocide, corrupted, depressing, unique and incredibly unique. His world-building skills were perfect!
I couldn’t put the books down. Each character is someone you wanted to meet, hate, love, embrace and encourage to stay strong, or admire for their crazy ass strengths. No holds barr in the action, battles and evil. It starts with a ship and ends in book two with a cult of crazy fanatics. Robots, slice and dicers, lesbian love, battle worn soldiers, friends and enemies… and the strong sense of honor amongst the fallen or defeated.
Wow, wow, wow! So far, I’m in for the long haul and waiting anxiously for Book Three. I wish I didn’t have to wait until next year. I never start a Trilogy unless I have all three books so the story, plot and pacing flow in a steady stream from one book through to the end. With this series, it feels like I’ve smashed into a wall.
I gave these books five stars, but I wish I could give them twenty.
